| Counselor
Biographies Our counselors have
extensive training in the mental health field and theology. They have
graduate degrees, are certified members of the American Association of
Pastoral Counselors, and some have been licensed by the State of Virginia as
Professional Counselors and/or have been ordained by their respective
denominations. All of our counselors are trained to address premarital and
marital issues, various mental health diagnoses, substance abuse issues and
spiritual issues. However, each counselor has his/her areas of interest or
specialty.
Rev. Steven W. Harris,
M.Div.
A Certified Pastoral Counselor in the
American Association of Pastoral Counselors (AAPC), Steven has extensive
clinical pastoral education at state hospitals in Kentucky and Georgia, and
20 years of counseling experience with adults and adolescents. He graduated
with a Master of Divinity with emphasis on Pastoral Counseling from Southern
Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY. Steven serves the Center as
Director of Resource Development.

Mrs. Deborah B. Kaplan, M.
Education/Educational Counseling
A member in the American Association of
Pastoral Counselors (AAPC), Debbie has over fifteen years of experience as
an elementary school counselor with Virginia Certified School Counseling
Licensure. She graduated with an M.A. from the University of Pennsylvania
where she also received a B.A. in Judiac/Oriental Studies. Also, she was the
Director of the Jewish Community Council and Founder and Director of the
Jewish Community Religious School.

- Separation, divorce and grief counseling for children (individual and small

Rev. Larry E. Sprouse,
M.Div.
A Fellow in the American Association of
Pastoral Counselors (AAPC), Larry received a Master of Divinity from
Southern Baptist Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky. Larry has more than
twenty years of pastoral counseling experience. He is the Senior Minister of
Melrose Baptist Church in Roanoke, Virginia.

Mrs. Polly S. Roberts
A member (pending) of the American
Association of Pastoral Counselors, Polly earned a Masters and Ph.D. in
Counselor Education from Virginia Tech. Polly is working towards
certification as a Licensed Professional Counselor in Virginia and is a
member of the American Counseling Association. She is an Adjunct Graduate
Instructor at Radford University and at Virginia Tech. Polly also has 12
years of experience as a high school teacher and a MAT from Duke University.
She is an active, lifelong member of the United Methodist Church.
