Counseling Center was founded in 1974 by religious denominational, mental
health, medical and legal professionals coming together to meet a need in
the Roanoke Valley metro area. For 30 years, our offices have been located
at the Second Presbyterian Church on Mountain and Third Street SW in
Roanoke.
Our Mission
To provide affordable professional
pastoral counseling in a competent, compassionate and hopeful environment
for those in life’s crises and transitions who are in the religious
community and greater community.

Judeo-Christian tradition. Pastoral Counseling Center of the Roanoke Valley
helps people from all walks of life to reach toward hope, seek a new quality
of life, develop stronger relationships and healthier lifestyles while
gaining a greater use of one’s values, self-esteem and spiritual well-being.
What Is Pastoral
Counseling?
Pastoral counseling is a unique form of
psychotherapy that offers therapeutic treatment which maintains the natural
connection of body, mind and spirit. A pastoral counselor is an ordained
clergy or person endorsed by their religious body trained in theology and
behavioral sciences and is certified by the American Association of Pastoral
Counselors (AAPC).
Where Do Clients Come
From?
Clients come to the Center by referrals
from ministers, family, friends, employers, mental health agencies, yellow
pages or self. Clients come from all walks of life and from all religious
denominations or without a religious background.

How To Schedule An
Appointment
When you call the Pastoral Counseling
Center of the Roanoke Valley for an appointment (540-343-5455) you will be
assigned a counselor which best fits your needs and together you'll set up
an initial appointment.
Payment
The Center uses a sliding fee scale
starting at $20.00. The fee for counseling is based on individual or family
income. Each counselor will work with the client in setting the fee and
payment. Persons who cannot afford the minimum of $20.00 can be seen for a
limited number of sessions.
Funding
The Pastoral Counseling Center is funded
solely by congregations, individuals, groups and foundations. The Pastoral
Counseling Center of the Roanoke Valley, Inc. is a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit
organization. The Center is governed by a Board of Directors. All donations
are tax deductible. Your gifts make it possible to provide counseling,
education and other services. Thank you for joining us in the ministry of
